A 比 B + Adj is the standard comparison structure. It means "A is more [adjective] than B."
Basic comparison - A 比 B 高 (A is taller than B)
With degree - A 比 B 高很多 (A is much taller than B)
With specific amount - A 比 B 高五厘米 (A is 5cm taller than B)
He is taller than me.
Do NOT use 很 directly after 比: say 比我高很多, NOT 比我很高.
Do NOT use 很 directly with 比
- ✅ 他比我高
- ✅ 他比我高很多
- ❌ 他比我很高
Negative comparison uses 没有, not 不比
- 他没有我高 = He is not as tall as me
- 他不比我高 = He is not taller than me (ambiguous)
Word order is fixed
- A 比 B + Adj (NOT Adj + A 比 B)
He is taller than me.
Today is much colder than yesterday.
She is two years older than me.
This one is a little more expensive than that one.
