Excessive (negative): 太貴了 (too expensive)
Emphatic (positive): 太好了 (great! / wonderful!)

Common expressions:

• 太可惜了 - What a pity
• 太過分了 - That is too much / outrageous
Without 了:
太 + Adj (no 了) is less emphatic and often sounds incomplete in spoken Chinese.
