〜はず expresses logical expectation - "should be" based on evidence or reasoning.
Expectation - 届くはずです (It should arrive)
Supposed to - 届くはずだったのに (It was supposed to arrive, but...)
Impossible - そんなはずがない (That can't be!)
The train should arrive at 10.
Based on knowledge or evidence, not just hope or desire.
はず vs べき
- はず = logical expectation (should be true)
- べき = moral obligation (should do)
Noun + のはず, な-adj + なはず
- ✅ 休みのはず、静かなはず
- ❌ 休みはず、静かはず
はずがない = strong denial — "there's no way that..."
