-(으)ㄴ/는지 embeds a question inside a statement - "whether," "if," or with question words (who, what, where, etc.).
Indirect questions - 뭐 먹는지 몰라요 (I do not know what to eat)
Whether/if - 올지 안 올지 (whether coming or not)
Wondering - 왜 그런지... (why that is...)
Do you know where it is?
Common with 알다, 모르다, 궁금하다, 묻다, 보다.
Tense forms
- Present action: -는지 (가는지)
- Present descriptive: -(으)ㄴ지 (큰지)
- Past: -았/었는지 (갔는지)
- Future: -(으)ㄹ지 (갈지)

- 학생인지 (whether a student)
- 뭔지 = 뭐인지 (what it is)
